Job Description: What does it take to become a Hamleys Elf?

Other than obvious requirements of having previous toy-making experience, there is another test you must pass before becoming a Hamleys Elf - The Elf Factor Auditions!

As we enter our third Christmas at Hamleys in Glasgow, we cannot wait to have fun with all our friends who visit us! Every year more children come to see our new toys and visit Father Christmas for breakfast and tea, but we just don't have enough elves to get all the important jobs done. We need your help!

We are offering 3 lucky people the chance to become part of Hamleys North Pole Elite by auditioning at the first annual Elf Factor taking place in St Enoch Centre on Saturday 5th November.

Each person will have 90 seconds to show Santa, Hamleys Elves, Hamleys Events Manager and Clyde 1 FM Radio presenter Shebahn Littlejohn why they should be hired this Christmas. If you are successful you will be then invited to Elf Camp the following week where you will perform in store during a working day. The three successful candidates will be given a Christmas contract to work for Hamleys for eight weeks with an option to stay on as a permananent member of the team!

The prize: 2 x 20 hour contracts and 1 x 16 hour contract.

This contract will be valid from Saturday 12th November - Saturday 7th January (8 weeks).

MEET FATHER CHRISTMAS AT HAMLEYS GLASGOW

Join in the Christmas magic at Hamleys, St Enoch Centre this December by having Breakfast, Lunch or Tea with Father Christmas! Father Christmas' Elves will be welcoming the children of Scotland, making them feel extra special and entertaining them throughout this unique experience.

There will be Christmas activities for all the children to enjoy. Each little guest will have a special chat with Father Christmas himself, hearing tales of Lapland and magical stories of Christmas. After some scrumptious food everyone can enjoy Christmas games, singing and best of all get to make their very own wish list surrounded by the finest toys in the world. Just before its time for Father Christmas to leave, his special guests will receive a goody bag and march out to Hamleys Christmas post box to send their wish list off to the North Pole.

BABY'S FIRST CHRISTMAS SATURDAY 10TH DECEMBER CITY CHAMBERS

Celebrate your Baby's First Christmas with a personalised certificate and keepsake memento from the Lord Provost of Glasgow. The first 250 babies registered will be invited to meet the Lord Provost and his Bailies at the City Chambers on the 10th December. The babies will also receive a teddy bear from Hamleys. The additional 750 babies will collect their goody bags from Hamleys in St Enoch Centre.

Registration is now closed! This means that its almost time for all you lucky parents that registered to come down to Hamleys to collect your fantastic goody bag!

Goody Bags will be available in store from Saturday 10th - Sunday 18th December. There after bags can be collected from St Enoch Centre customer services desk on the ground floor.

Badger the Mystical Mutt is coming back to Hamleys! Sunday 12th February from 12noon.

Come along to Hamleys and meet Badger the Mystical Mutt in the Fur. He's the star of a new children's series for 5-9 year olds, and he'll be giving out high paws and hugs. As well as hearing some of his tales, he's got some free activity packs and stickers. There will be a chance to meet his author and have your book signed.

Kids Bee Happy will be making Sand Art in Hamleys on Thursday 5th and Friday 13th April from 12 noon - 2pm.

Party with the Hamleys Bear this Easter!

Hamleys Glasgow brings you a magical event this Easter. You can now enjoy an Easter Party with Hamleys Bunny Bear. Join Hamleys Bunny Bear and the entertainment team at Hamleys, Glasgow for over an hour of fun. The events team will kick the party off in the magical Easter party area where they will serve up a wide variety of treats from giant muffins and chocolate eggs, to cookies you can design yourself! There are lots of activities planned with Hamleys Bunny Bear. Listen to his bunny tales and join in with the arts and crafts. Bring your bear along and Hamleys Bunny Bear will show you how to make your own bunny bear. You can take part in our Easter egg hunt and also have the opportunity to have your photo taken with Hamleys Bunny Bear. Before you leave each child will receive a special Hamleys Easter goodie bag.

We are searching for 'Hamleys Little Helper' 2012!

Does your child believe in Christmas magic? If so, add a little sparkle this year by entering them into the Hamleys Little helper photographic competition. Hamleys and Venture photography are looking for a child with a sparkle in their eyes that can be captured on camera.

The competition is free to enter and open to all children between the ages of 0-5. Just bring them along to Hamleys at the times stated below and they will have a free mini photo shoot which will be submitted to the competition. The winning child will receive a family portrait session and a £500 framed image and have their picture displayed in Hamleys Toy Store for the year. Don't miss out on this very popular event!

St Enoch Centre's Toddle Waddle 2013 Sunday 10th February.

Join in the fun at our first ever sponsored Toddle Waddle on Sunday 10th February, in aid of Cancer Support Scotland. The Toddle Waddle is open to all toddlers and under 5's and will take place in the cosiness of the shopping centre, so no need for gloves and hats Our very own Hamley and Hattie Bear will lead the way and toddlers can dress up as their favourite character, superhero or princess to add excitement of the day.

Every child who takes part gets a fantastic goody bag which is full of things to make it a fun-filled event. Plus, a special Toddle Waddle certificate will also be sent to each child once sponsorship money has been received by the charity.

Our friends from the UK Garrison are back and this time they've brought some new friends from Galaxy's far, far away. Meet some of your favourite Star Wars characters and help us celebrate all things Star Wars as we plan on having more fun than ever this May bank holiday weekend!

Darth Vader, Stormtroopers, Gamorrean Guard Sandtrooper, Imperial Gunner, TIE Pilot, Tusken Raider, Tarfful the Wookie, Jedi Knight and a Biker Scout.... and a very special appearance by R2-D2 on Sunday May 5th!

The Hamleys Entertainment Team will also be dressing up and joining in the Galactic Fun! So you might even get to meet Princess Leia and even Yoda. "An amazing weekend this will be"!

The event is also in support of the UK Garrison's chosen charity CHAS. We will be taking donations on the day for photographs in support of this fantastic cause. Please remember that all characters participating in this event are volunteers and do not take payment for their apperance. All funds received over the weekend will go directly to CHAS.

*Main characters such as Darth Vader will be positioned in the Hamleys stage area. Some characters will roam around the store and St Enoch Centre throughout the day. There will be a queue system set up to meet the main characters. The characters will be taking breaks intermittently throughout the day. Sylvanian Families comes to Hamleys!

The Big Egg Hunt!

Friday 15th - Wednesday 20th March

The UK's biggest Easter egg hunt is back, and this time it's on tour. 101 giant Easter Eggs will be hidden in Glasgow from Friday 15th March to Wednesday 20th March as part of the Lindt Big Egg Hunt supporting Action for Children. This is a magical event for families to take on the UK'S biggest Easter egg hunt, whilst raising vital funds for leading children's charity Action for Children.

This year Hamleys have joined in the hunt! We will have not one but two very special eggs located in our St Enoch Centre store. We're not going to tell you which eggs they are, but lets just say that if you like Thomas the Tank Engine you are going to love this!!

Take part in this age-old Easter egg hunt tradition on a giant scale and with a modern twist: as a giant exhibition of modern art, showcasing the talent of some of the world's best artists and designers as well as featuring some of the UK's best loved children's characters.

Two of your favourite characters from Disney Junior's number one children's programme are flying into Hamleys Glasgow! Join Buzzbee and Rubee as they fly into St Enoch Centre and visit all their fans in Glasgow! The characters will be available for photographs in the Hamleys stage area from 11am - 4pm.

Hamleys at the World Pipe Band Championship 2012 Saturday 11th August

Hamleys will once again be joining the tens of thousands of people attending the World Pipe Band Championships this year On Saturday 11th August Hamleys team of entertainers will be making the short trip to Glasgow Green for some traditional Scottish fun.

With toy demonstrations, teddy bear zumba, balloons, singing, dancing and the chance to meet Hamley and Hattie bear, there really is something for all the family at The World Pipe Band Championships.

Deep Sea World will once again be joining us with their interactive rock pool (9am-4pm). Explore the Rock pool, meet some amazing sea creatures and if you're lucky (and very careful!) you might even get to touch a real shark tooth!

Badger the Mystical Mutt and the Barking Boogie Book Launch.

Come and join McNicol & Jackson on Thursday 7th June from 6pm until 7pm for the launch of Badger the Mystical Mutt and the Barking Boogie, the second book in the hit series of illustrated children's stories for 5-9 year olds.

Face of Hamleys 2012.

Hamleys are delighted to announce that Venture Photography will be hosting their "Face of Hamleys" competition 2012. This will be open for all children aged between 0 and 5.

The event will take place from Monday 11th June to Thursday 14th June between the hours of 10am and 3pm. Venture Photography will take a photograph of your child for free entry into the competition. The competition will be judged by Hamleys and the winner announced by the end of June. All entries are free and you will be able to see the entries on the Venture Glasgow Facebook site.

The winning child's family will receive a family portrait session and £500 framed image of their choice. Venture will also be offering an exclusive voucher deal for a family photography session and complimentary framed image worth £145 for the reduced price of £15. Venture are delighted to support Hamleys chosen charity of Yorkhill Children's Foundation and will donate £5 from every voucher sale to charity.

A 45 minute workshop for max 20 children between 3 & 5 years old plus their careers, the Peppa Puppet Workshop is a chance to introduce children to the idea of puppets as characters. This intimate, hands-on workshop allows the pre-schoolers to devise their own puppet character and make it with simple arts and crafts which will be provided. Led by a children's workshop specialist, the youngsters will also be taught some basic glove animation to help bring their own creations to life. There will be three sessions taking place on Sunday 1st July.

The Amazing Spider-Man swings into Hamleys- Saturday 7th July 11am-4pm

To celebrate the release of 'The Amazing Spider-Man' your friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man will be swinging by Hamleys in Glasgow to meet and greet some of his Scottish fans.

Spider-Man will be appearing in the Hamleys Stage Area overlooking St Enoch Centre food court between 11am and 4pm.

All customers will be free to take their own photographs, however there will be the opportunity to have a professional photograph taken by our photography partners Portrait Place. There is no charge for the professional photograph but we will be taking donations which will be distributed to numerous childrens charities throughout Scotland following the event.

There will be a queue system in place to meet the character so make sure you get there early to avoid disappointment. The queue will be cut to ensure the event finishes at 4pm.

Batman is coming to Hamleys- Saturday 28th July 11am - 4pm

To celebrate the release of 'The Dark Knight Rises' we have invited Batman to join in the Summer Camp Fun at Hamleys in Glasgow, to meet and greet some of his Scottish fans.

Batman will be appearing in the Hamleys Stage Area overlooking St Enoch Centre food court between 11am and 4pm.

All customer will be free to take their own photographs, however there will also be a Hamleys entertainer on hand to take pictures for the Hamleys Facebook page. There is no charge for photographs but we will be taking donations on the day, which will be distributed to numerous children's charities throughout Scotland following the event.

There will be a queue system in place to meet the character so make sure you get there early to avoid disappointment. The queue will be cut to ensure that the event finishes at 4pm.

Ben 10 World Record Attempt and Exclusive UK launch of the new Omniverse toy range at Hamleys Glasgow

This summer Cartoon Network invites kids across the UK to help build a giant alien (Bloxx) out of plastic bricks and break a Guinness World Record for the greatest number of participants.

'Bloxx' is one of 10 new featured aliens in the brand new series of hit show Ben 10: Omniverse, which premieres on the network this autumn.

The Alien World Record challenge runs through the summer holidays (August - September) visiting nine busy UK shopping centres. Participants can bring their own plastic brick (Cobi or LEGO) to place on the giant sculpture or choose a brick from the existing selection at the event. The tour kicks off in Glasgow on 4th August, where the first bricks will be added by local families.

The alien then tours the additional eight locations getting bigger and bigger along the way. Once participants have laid a brick they'll be able to push a button on a huge counter clock keeping track of every person who takes part.

At each event there will also be a cool 9m squared 3D floor graphic for capturing awesome pictures. A Cartoon Network film crew with live presenters will be at each location and kids may get the opportunity to be on TV. Each participant will receive a wrist band with a number which can be entered at www.ben10record.co.uk for a chance to win some amazing prizes. The website goes live from 2nd July and fans can follow the progress of the alien, check locations and enter competitions.

The Alien World Record Experience will be at St Enoch shopping centre, Glasgow on Saturday 4th August from 9am - 6pm
